Norton Tools 6 for DOS back in 1996 had a dual-pane file manager.

Some of us started using DP file managers back in the freeware and shareware days such as 2xExplorer by Mike Lyn (I donated to his cause) 15 or so years ago, and more recently x2Explorer by ZabKat.

These programs have instant folder comparison helping the user to identify matching and non-matching files for easy synchronization.

Considering how we ingest data from memory cards used by POS cameras, professional DLSRs, action cams (I own several of each category) etc, to our computers, a DP File manager is essential to data management.
