Yes, these scripts work and give you the option to select the changes you\u2019d like to make. However, if you\u2019re like me, you won\u2019t understand what half of those tweaks do to your system and most certainly won&#8217;t know <a href=\"https:\/\/maketecheasier.com\/is-debloating-windows-necessary\/\">the consequences the debloating could cause<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, I experienced those consequences in the form of annoying bugs, blue screens of death (BSoD), and ultimately a few Windows reinstalls. The thing is, unless you understand all the Windows jargon, you can\u2019t fully control the changes these scripts make. And once you\u2019ve run those scripts and something breaks, you\u2019ll have a hard time pinpointing which specific script caused it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"wintoys-explains-toggles\">Wintoys Actually Explains What the Toggles Do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wintoys<\/strong> fills the gaps those debloat scripts leave unaddressed. If you hover over a toggle, you get a description of what it does. It\u2019s less of a debloating tool and more of a Windows tweaking and system-optimization app, which is what we actually need. I mean, the end goal is to make Windows snappier, lighter, and more private. You have to go through each toggle, understand its purpose, and choose to turn it on or off. Sounds intimidating, but trust me, this is the right way to go about tweaking Windows. You don\u2019t want a one-click solution that ends up breaking your workstation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"restore-button\">The \u2018Restore\u2019 Button I Wish I Had Earlier<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Wintoys has a <strong>Restore<\/strong> option under <strong>Settings<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Miscellaneous<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Restoration<\/strong>. Now, almost all the debloat tools out there have a restore or revert button. So, this practically gives you two levels of restoration \u2014 one toggle at a time or all toggles back to default values. So far, I haven&#8217;t experienced a single glitch in my system, having tested both ways to revert settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"wintoys-tweaks-recommendation\">Wintoys Tweaks I Recommend<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The changes I&#8217;ve applied using Wintoys haven\u2019t hurt my PC in any way. In fact, I&#8217;ve gained a pretty solid understanding of what the app has done to make those changes, thanks to the descriptions it provides. Also, Wintoys hides most of the potentially dangerous options under <strong>Tweaks<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Superuser<\/strong>, which I completely avoid tinkering with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some tweaks that have really improved my overall Windows experience. Feel free to check out the other options too, as it has plenty on offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"background-apps\">1. Background Apps<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t like apps running in the background when I\u2019m not using them, so I turn this feature off. It says that some apps might not work properly, but it hasn\u2019t broken anything in my 2-month testing. Activity History<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Another <strong>Performance<\/strong> tweak I make is to turn off Windows\u2019 ability to track my app, services, and website usage. Search Indexing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you haven\u2019t already, I recommend shifting all your Windows search needs to <strong>Everything<\/strong> \u2014 you get instant results, and it\u2019s one of <a href=\"https:\/\/maketecheasier.com\/lightweight-windows-apps-alternatives\/\">the lightest Windows apps out there<\/a>. Delivery Optimization<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This feature is related to Windows Updates, where the OS uses your PC as a sort of torrent client to share updates between you and other users, minimizing Microsoft\u2019s server usage. This can hog your system resources, especially RAM and internet bandwidth. Hibernation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/maketecheasier.com\/is-hibernate-bad-for-pc\/\">Hibernation isn&#8217;t necessarily bad for your PC<\/a> \u2014 however, it does consume hard disk space, and, in the long run, it\u2019s still <a href=\"https:\/\/maketecheasier.com\/shut-down-vs-sleep-vs-hibernate\/\">better to shut your PC down instead of hibernating it or putting it to sleep<\/a>. I prefer to turn it off to save space and force myself to shut down the system each time. Start Menu<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Start Menu<\/strong>, under <strong>Tweaks<\/strong>, has a bunch of options, which I tend to turn off altogether. I like my Start menu minimal, mainly showing just my pinned apps. I have everything turned off except <strong>Location<\/strong> and <strong>Error Reporting<\/strong>. If you\u2019ve already set up your system according to your needs, turning all of these off doesn\u2019t hurt.
